Vlade Divac: 'Sacramento Kings will not trade DeMarcus Cousins'

Sacramento Kings vice-president Vlade Divac insists that DeMarcus Cousins will not be traded following reported interest from the Los Angeles Lakers.

Sacramento Kings vice-president Vlade Divac has insisted that DeMarcus Cousins will not be traded this summer.

Recent reports have suggested that the Los Angeles Lakers are considering putting together a package to tempt the Kings to let Cousins leave, and Sacramento head coach George Karl is believed to be open to a deal involving the All-Star center.

However, Divac claims that he is not willing to begin negotiations with any team as the franchise looks to plan for the future with the 24-year-old.

"It is not happening," he told The Sacramento Bee. "We're looking for ways to improve our team. We need time to work on that, and draft a good player. I don't care what the agents or the media people are saying.

"I will not be in a position to be pushed around. I don't know why we are wasting time talking about something that is not going to happen."

Cousins averaged 24.1 points and 12.7 rebounds per game last season.
