The NBA's president of basketball operations Rod Thorn has praised retiring referee Dick Bavetta by calling the longstanding official "an inspiration".
Bavetta is retiring from the game having officiated 2,635 straight games without missing a single scheduled fixture.
"Dick's dedication and commitment to his craft has been an inspiration to all NBA officials," said Thorn, according to the NBA's official website.
"We are grateful for his contributions to our league, and we wish him the best as he enjoys his well-earned retirement."
Bavetta served in 270 playoff games and refereed in 27 final encounters.
