LA Lakers owner Jerry Buss dies

The owner of American basketball side LA Lakers has died at the age of 80.

Jerry Buss, who brought the team back in 1979, was recently hospitalised at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles with a form of cancer, according to the Los Angeles Times.

It is an illness that prevented him from attending a Lakers match this season.

The Lakers won 10 NBA titles since Buss purchased the club.
