Leandro Barbosa: 'World Cup of Basketball gives me opportunity to impress'

Barbosa: 'World Cup perfect opportunity'

Free agent Leandro Barbosa has said that he will be hoping to impress potential teams as he prepares to take part in the World Cup of Basketball for the USA.

Barbosa most recently played for the Phoenix Suns, where he was known for his ability to score in bunches off the bench.

"I don't know what owners think about the World Cup, but hopefully I do a great job over there and a team sees," Barbosa told reporters.

"I feel healthy and my body is feeling healthy. If I have free agency in my mind, I won't be able to be myself on the court. Hopefully, I sign a contract and I'll be happy."

The US got themselves into good shape for the World Cup as they comfortably overcame Brazil with a 95-78 victory at the United Center on Saturday night.
