Jason Smith agrees New York Knicks contract

Former New Orleans Pelicans center agrees to join the New York Knicks.

The New York Knicks have announced that Jason Smith has signed a contract with the team.

The veteran center was a free agent after spending last season with the New Orleans Pelicans, but has now accepted undisclosed terms with the Atlantic Division side.

The 28-year-old averaged 9.7 points per game in 31 appearances for the Pelicans during the 2013-14 regular season.

Smith was a first-round Draft pick in 2007 for the Miami Heat before being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.
