Jackson optimistic about Knicks

New York Knicks team president Phil Jackson remains optimistic about the franchise's future despite their troubled season this year.

The Knicks are set to secure a top-four Draft pick, while they will also have significant salary cap space to rebuild their roster.

Jackson has hinted that the team will look to acquire a defensive presence first, and could use their high Draft pick to select a top prospect.

"If you sit around [picking] in the 20s and the late teens when you're drafting players, you're not going to move the franchise ahead," Jackson said, ESPN reports.

"You've got to have a high Draft pick to do that. They're the ones that really move the franchise ahead. And this is our opportunity. It may be a godsend in the end result."

However, both Jackson and general manager Steve Mills have also conceded that they could listen to offers for their Draft pick.
