Byron Scott signs a four-year deal worth $17m to become the LA Lakers' new head coach after the Californian franchise end three months without a man at the helm.

Byron Scott has become the new coach of the Los Angeles Lakers after agreeing a four-year deal worth $17m.

The Lakers have been without a head coach for the past three months after the resignation of former coach Mike D'Antoni at the end of April.

He spoke of his delight upon his appointment, telling reporters: "This is a dream come true. I always wanted to coach the Lakers, especially when I got to coaching."

Scott won the NBA championship as a player with the Lakers back in the early 90s and has a close relationship with franchise talisman Kobe Bryant.
