NBA roundup: Los Angeles Lakers clinch second win of season

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from Tuesday evening's games in the NBA.

The Los Angeles Lakers secured their second win of the NBA season after making a bright start against the Atlanta Hawks at the Philips Arena.

Kobe Bryant led the visitors with 28 points, including 11 in the first quarter to give the Lakers a commanding lead early on, while Nick Young finished with 17 in his first game of the season after overcoming a hand injury.

Paul Millsap tried to give Atlanta some late hope, helping the team add 13 unanswered points after the break, but they never looked like recovering from the first-half deficit.

The Milwaukee Bucks survived a strong finish from the New York Knicks to continue their strong run at home this season.

After a closely-matched first quarter, the Bucks pulled away ahead of half time before opening up a 26-point lead shortly after the restart.

Carmelo Anthony tried to bring the visitors back into the game, adding 20 as the Knicks cut the gap to just four points late on, but they could not complete the comeback.

The Utah Jazz dominated the second half to clinch a win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have won just once away from home this season.

The Thunder had a narrow lead at the break, but rookie Alec Burks led the fightback in the third for Utah, posting 20 points as the Thunder were outscored 32-17 in the third.

The New Orleans Pelicans bounced back from defeat on Monday with a victory over the Sacramento Kings, despite a slow start to the game.

It had looked like the visitors were heading for another loss when DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay led the Kings to a nine-point advantage at half time.

However, Anthony Davis continued his bright start to the campaign with a 28-point game, most of which came after the break, while former Sacramento player Tyreke Evans came off the bench to add 18 and complete the turnaround.

Results in full: Los Angeles Lakers 114-109 Atlanta Hawks, New York Knicks 113-117 Milwaukee Bucks, Oklahoma City Thunder 81-98 Utah Jazz, New Orleans Pelicans 106-100 Sacrmento Kings
