Van Gundy looking for attacking patience

Detroit Pistons coach Stan van Gundy has revealed that he wants his side to play with more patience as they prepare for the coming season.

The Pistons are due to face the Chicago Bulls in their first pre-season game, with the coach suggesting that the contest will hopefully force the team to take their time choosing the right moves in attack.

"I'd like to see a little bit more patience on the offensive end," said van Gundy, according to the Detroit Free Press.

"In practice so far, we're really forcing the issue and trying to play off the first option all the time – which they certainly won't let us do tomorrow.

"Hopefully, that will force us to be more patient, because if you force the issue against them, you're not going to have a lot of success."

The Pistons will open their regular season when they meet the Denver Nuggets on October 29.
