Dirk Nowitzki ready for Sixth Man role

Dirk Nowitzki insists that he is ready to come off the bench if necessary for the Dallas Mavericks to win.

Dallas Mavericks veteran Dirk Nowitzki has revealed that he is willing to prepare for the transition to becoming a sixth man for the team.

The 13-time All-Star conceded that he is ready to do whatever it takes to help the team compete next year, even if that means coming off the bench.

"Yeah, I mean, whatever it takes," Nowitzki said during the Mavs' exit interviews.

"I've always said that. My last two years I want to enjoy. I want to be a good team. I want to be on a winning team. Playoffs. Hopefully deep runs. So, yeah, anything I've got to do to help is obviously no question."

The 36-year-old has negotiated discounts on his last two contracts to help the Mavs build a competitive roster, but his production has also slipped.

Nowitzki averaged 17.3 points and 5.9 rebounds in his 17th NBA season, while also playing his lowest minutes average since his rookie season.
