Report: Smith to opt out of Cavs contract

JR Smith has reportedly indicated that he intends to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The small forward, who scored 19 points in game six of the NBA Finals after struggling to pick up points earlier in the series, has one season left on his current deal, and is due to earn $6.4m (£4m) next year.

However, ESPN reports that the 29-year-old has said that he will "probably" opt out of the final year in order to test the open market.

Smith joined the team midway through the season in a trade from the New York Knicks.
