Kyrie Irving vows to play despite injury

Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving insists that he will play through the pain of knee tendinitis during the NBA Finals.

Kyrie Irving has insisted that he will be able to play in the NBA Finals, despite struggling with knee tendinitis in the last round of the playoffs.

The Cleveland Cavaliers point guard missed half of the games in their Eastern Conference finals win over the Atlanta Hawks last month.

The 23-year-old told reporters: "It's an adjustment, but it's what it is at this point. But I'm just going to go out there and will myself to play.

"It's definitely tough because obviously mentally and physically you want to be in line. It's just like some of the things I'm thinking about doing mentally, you know, your body just kind of stops and you catch yourself a little bit sometimes."

Irving has averaged 18.7 points per game during the playoffs so far this season.
