Chicago Bulls forward Taj Gibson undergoes arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle and is expected to be out of action for four months.

Chicago Bulls forward Taj Gibson has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle and will require up to four months away from the court.

It is unclear as to whether Gibson will be back in time for his side's training camp, with the frontman having had an operation earlier this week in Indianapolis.

The 29-year-old appeared in 62 games in the NBA last season where he collected averages of 10.3 points and 6.4 rebounds.

Gibson has so far spent six seasons in the league, all of which have been at the Chicago Bulls who picked him from the 2009 Draft.
