England's Jessica Taylor wins heptathlon bronze as Brianne Theisen-Eaton triumphs

Jessica Taylor claims Commonwealth bronze for England in the heptathlon, with the dominant Brianne Theisen-Eaton taking gold.

England's Jessica Taylor has secured bronze in the heptathlon at the Commonwealth Games in an event dominated by Canada's Brianne Theisen-Eaton.

Taylor headed into the final event needing to prevent Jamaica's Salcia Slack and Sophie Stanwell of Australia from securing a big lead in the 800m, and her sixth-place finish was enough to claim third overall.

Theisen-Eaton was in superb form once again as she stormed home to secure her fifth win in seven events over the two days at Hampden Park.

Jessica Zelinka finished second behind her teammate to end the heptathlon on 6,270 points, 327 behind Theisen-Eaton.

English duo Jessica Tappin and Grace Clements were sixth and seventh, respectively, in the overall standings.
