Christopher Baker "ecstatic" with fourth place

England's Christopher Baker is "ecstatic" with his performance in the high jump final at the Commonwealth Games, despite narrowly missing out on a medal.

England high jumper Christopher Baker has insisted that he is "ecstatic" with his fourth-place finish in the final of the Commonwealth Games yesterday evening.

Baker narrowly missed out on the podium with a best height of 2.25m - the same as Canada's Michael Mason, who picked up the bronze due to making the jump at the first time of asking while Baker needed two attempts.

However, despite being so close to winning a medal, the 23-year-old was still delighted with his performance and revealed that the experience had made him hungry for more.

"The Commonwealth Games fourth place - I'm ecstatic really. It's a great experience. I've had nothing like this before so to have this experience, I just want it more and more," Baker told Sports Mole.

"I just want to jump again! It's so exciting out there and it was great."

Canada's Derek Drouin won the gold medal, while Kyriakos Ioannou of Cyprus picked up silver.
