Perkovic wins discus gold

Croatia's Sandra Perkovic won the gold medal in the final of the women's discus inside London's Olympic Stadium this evening.

The 22-year-old achieved the feat by producing a throw of 69.11m, which is a national record.

In doing so, she has become the first woman from her country to win a gold medal at an Olympic Games.

Russia's Darya Pishchalnikova finished second thanks to a throw of of 67.56m, while Li Yangfeng came third with a distance of 67.22m.
