Women's shot-put champion Nadzeya Ostapchuk is stripped of her gold medal after failing a drugs test.

Women's shot-put Olympic champion Nadzeya Ostapchuk has been stripped of her gold medal for failing a drugs test.

The Belarusian has been tested positive for banned substance metenolone in two separate samples following her shot-put victory, where she threw 21.36m to clinch the top honour.

The disqualification of the 31-year-old means that New Zealand competitor Valerie Adams will take home the gold, with Russia's Evgeniia Kolodko being promoted from bronze to silver.

The London 2012 Games concluded yesterday with the home nation collecting 29 golds, 17 silver and 19 bronze medals.
