Adams settles for silver

Valerie Adams lost her shot put Olympic title in London this evening.

The New Zealander could only manage a best distance of 20.70m, which was good enough to seal the silver medal.

Reports have claimed that the 27-year-old may now call time on her career following her campaign in the English capital.

Gold went to Nadzeya Ostapchuk of Belarus, who recorded a throw of 21.36m.

A personal best of 20.48m from Russia's Evgeniia Kolodko took the bronze medal.
