Bronze medallist Anton Prilepov: 'I came to European Games for gold'

Men's individual bronze-medal winner Anton Prilepov admits that he had hopes to win gold in the European Games in Baku.

Belarus archer Anton Prilepov has admitted that he had been hoping to take home a gold medal after finishing third in the men's individual event at the European Games in Baku.

The 31-year-old had to settle for the bronze medal after losing his semi-final, beating Slawomir Naploszek of Poland in the third-place match.

The former European champion told reporters: "I am happy enough but I really wanted the first place. I came to Baku to to win a gold medal.

"I started well, the way I had planned it, I was stable, consistent. Certainly this experience is invaluable, I leave this tournament with a higher level of technical expertise, it was great all round in view of the challenges ahead at the World Championships and the Olympic Games."

Prilepov also took part in the team event, but lost in the quarter-finals.
