NFL legend Tom Brady refuses to rule out a return to the game one week after announcing his retirement from the sport after 22 years.

Legendary quarterback Tom Brady has refused to rule out a potential return to the NFL in the 2022 season.

The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots star announced his decision to retire from the game last Tuesday after a glittering 22 years at the top level.

Brady's decision to end his playing career largely centred around spending more time with his family and handing the torch down to the next generation, but the 44-year-old has insisted that he will "never say never" with regards to a possible return.

Speaking on the Let's Go! podcast, Brady said: "I'm just going to take things as they come. I think that's the best way to put it, and I don't think anything, you know, you never say never.

"At the same time, I know that ... I feel very good about my decision. I don't know how I'll feel six months from now. I try to make the best possible decision I can in the moment, which I did this last week.

"And, again, I think it's not looking to reverse course. I'm definitely not looking to do that. But in the same time, I think you have to be realistic that you never know what challenges there are going to be in life. Again, I loved playing. I'm looking forward to doing things other than playing. That's as honest as I can be with you there."

Brady retired with seven Super Bowl crowns under his belt, as well as collecting five Super Bowl MVPs and three NFL MVPS, but his Bucs side fell to defeat against the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional playoffs this season.
