Sherman wins doping appeal

Richard Sherman has won his appeal against a four-game suspension after failing a drugs test.

The Seattle Seahawks cornerback tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug earlier in the season, but denied any wrongdoing.

Sherman's urine sample leaked from its cup, resulting in the tester transferring the sample to another cup.

The 24-year-old tweeted: "I won. Thank you @nfl for upholding the truth! To the [Seahawks fans] Thank you your faith is rewarded! Thank you lord."

Sherman later told reporters: "There was always people that said the chances are slim to none, I told them my chances have always been slim to none, and I've always found a way to win those. You don't make it this far without getting through some kind of adversity."

The NFL has said that the way the sample was handled is "a big deal", and that testers must ensure samples are collected properly.
