Richard Sherman slams "mediocre" Michael Crabtree

Sherman slams "mediocre" Crabtree

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has launched a scathing attack on San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree following last night's NFC championship game between the two sides.

Sherman was heavily involved in the last play of the game, deflecting a Colin Kaepernick pass intended for Crabtree in the endzone which allowed Malcolm Smith to make the interception that saw out a 23-17 win for his side.

Immediately after the match, Sherman added insult to injury by proclaiming that he was the best cornerback in the NFL and would not be beaten by a "mediocre" receiver like Crabtree.

"I'm the best corner in the game. When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that's the result you going to get," Sherman told reporters after the game.

"He wouldn't make the top 20 of NFL receivers. If any team had a chance to pick Crabtree, they wouldn't draft him. I was making sure everyone knew Crabtree was a mediocre receiver.

"And when you try the best corner in the game with a mediocre receiver, that's what happens. I appreciate that he knows that now. There has been a lot of talk from him running his mouth about me."

The victory sees the Seahawks progress to Super Bowl XLVIII to face the Denver Broncos.
