Bears kicker Robbie Gould opened the scoring in the first quarter after he nailed a 40-yard field goal after Chicago stalled just outside the redzone.

Another Gould kick made it 6-0 but the 49ers moved level as Jimmy Wilson intercepted Jay Cutler and flipped into the endzone for the defensive touchdown but the extra point was blocked by the Bears.

Chicago then found the endzone themselves as Matt Forte hit a five-yard rush and crossed the goal-line to give the home side their lead back.

However, San Francisco would tie things up just before the break as running back Shaun Draughn drove it home from a yard out.

In the second half, Chicago had the chance to take the lead but Ryan Gauld missed a field goal from 40 yards out.

The home side did take the lead with just over three minutes left in the game after two big-pass plays led to Ka'Deem Carey running it home to make it 20-13.

The 49ers came back with under two minutes remaining as quarterback Blaine Gabbert broke out a 44-yard run to level the scores again.

After a good return from Deonte Thompson, the Bears allowed time to run down to set up a late field goal but Gould missed the attempt as time expired.

Both teams punted on their first possession in overtime but Gabbert won his team the game as he found Torrey Smith for the 77-yard walk-off touchdown to secure the victory.

The win moves San Francisco to 4-8 while Chicago's faint playoff hopes take a hit as they drop to 5-7 on the season.
