Rice Jr. hoping for "an opportunity"

Jerry Rice Jr. has said that he is hoping to get an "opportunity" to prove that he can play in the NFL.

The wide receiver, who is the son of Hall of Fame wideout Jerry Rice, spent Friday at the San Francisco 49ers practice facility for the team's local pro day ahead of next month's Draft.

Rice, whose father was selected 16th overall by the 49ers in the 1985 Draft, told the NFC West side's website: "I'm trying to get in the door, front door, side window, I'm trying to jump in there. All I want is an opportunity, so that's what I'm working for right now."

Rice had 86 receiving yards and a touchdown during the 2013 college season with the UNLV Rebels.
