Colt McCoy to undergo shoulder scan

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colt McCoy says that he will undergo a precautionary scan on his injured shoulder later today.

Colt McCoy has confirmed that he will have an MRI scan on his shoulder later today, after sustaining an injury during the San Francisco 49ers' pre-season loss to the Denver Broncos.

The quarterback, who was acquired by the NFC West side in a trade with the Cleveland Browns earlier this year, picked up the injury in the first half of the tie, shortly before being replaced by Scott Tolzien.

The 26-year-old insists that the scan is just a precaution, although it is not known when he will return to the team's practices.

McCoy has been competing with Tolzien during training camp to be Colin Kaepernick's backup.
