San Diego Chargers hope Philip Rivers stays long term

San Diego Chargers general manager Tom Telesco insists that quarterback Philip Rivers is part of their long-term plans.

San Diego Chargers general manager Tom Telesco has insisted that the organisation hopes that Philip Rivers will be the franchise's quarterback for years to come.

Speculation has suggested that Rivers could be traded to the Tennessee Titans for the number two overall Draft pick, which would in turn give San Diego a chance at selecting Marcus Mariota.

"There really is no update," Telesco said, ESPN reports.

"As I've said for the last four months, Philip is our quarterback. And it's our plan and intent that he's our quarterback well into the future."

Telesco added that Rivers has shown a great amount of respect for his teammates and the organisation in discussions that have taken place this off-season.
