Oakland Raiders re-sign Darren McFadden and trade Rashad Jennings

The Oakland Raiders re-sign running back Darren McFadden on a one-year deal while trading Rashad Jennings to the New York Giants.

The Oakland Raiders have re-signed running back Darren McFadden to a one-year deal, according to reports.

McFadden was chosen by the Raiders with the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft but has struggled to consistently perform at the highest level due to a number of injury problems.

The 26-year-old has never managed more than 13 games in a season, missing almost half of the Raiders' last 41 outings and 29 games overall in his six-year NFL career.

However, the Raiders have opted to keep him for at least another season, signing him to a one-year deal worth a reported $4m (£2.4m).

Meanwhile, fellow running back Rashad Jennings has agreed a contract with the New York Giants following an impressive season standing in for McFadden.

Jennings rushed for a career-high 773 yards with six touchdowns during the 2013 campaign, while also catching 36 passes for 292 yards.

The 28-year-old, who led the entire league in total yards in November with 596, took to Twitter to confirm the news of his agreement with the Giants.

Jennings did not fumble once in 2013 and managed an average of 2.2 yards after first contact when rushing - the second-best total in the league.ID:143783: cacheID:143783:1false2false3false:QQ:: from db desktop :LenBod:restore:2632:
