Rex Ryan signs New York Jets extension

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has agreed terms on a contract extension for an undisclosed length of time, the club confirmed on their website.

Ryan said that he is passionate about the Jets and that the planning for the 2014 season was already well underway.

"I've said all along, I'm glad to be a Jet, I'm happy to be a Jet," the Jets' website quotes him as saying. "That's never changed. I know what we all want and we're striving to get there.

"It's not about me. We're already into our off-season planning. There are a lot of areas where we can improve and we can't wait to get this thing rolling."

The Jets did not qualify for the post-season with their 8-8 record.
