Spielman: 'Vikings plan to keep Ponder'

Rick Spielman has said that Christian Ponder will be remaining with the Minnesota Vikings for the 2014 NFL season.

The quarterback is heading into the final year of his rookie contract and will face competition for the starting job, with the team looking to bring in at least two more quarterbacks during the off-season.

According to ESPN, the team's general manager says that the 25-year-old will remain, but he has not ruled out using the eighth pick in the 2014 Draft to bring in a rookie quarterback.

Ponder struggled with injuries during 2013, recording 1,648 passing yards in nine games.
