Minnesota Vikings clinch playoff place with win over Green Bay Packers

Vikings clinch playoff place with win

The Minnesota Vikings have secured the second NFC wildcard spot in the playoffs with a win over the Green Bay Packers.

Rookie kicker Blair Walsh completed a 29-yard field goal in the final seconds of the game to give Minnesota a 37-34 victory.

Adrian Peterson rushed for 199 yards and scored two touchdowns, falling 9 yards short of Eric Dickerson's all-time record for most rushing yards in a single season.

Greg Jennings and James Jones found the end zone for Green Bay, while Mason Crosby also found form, completing four extra point kicks and two field goals, including one from 51 yards.

The loss means that the Packers drop to third place in the conference and miss out on a bye week.

With the Vikings securing the sixth seed berth, they will face the Packers again next week in the playoffs.
