Aaron Rodgers inspires Green Bay Packers to win over Minnesota Vikings

Aaron Rodgers leads the Green Bay Packers to an emphatic 42-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field.

The Green Bay Packers have recorded their third victory of the new season thanks to a comfortable 42-10 triumph over the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field.

There was an early sign of things to come from the hosts as Aaron Rodgers finished his side's second drive by picking out Randall Cobb with a short pass for Green Bay's first touchdown.

Minnesota were finding it difficult to produce a response as Christian Ponder, who took over quarterback duties as a replacement for the injured Teddy Bridgewater, struggled to link up with his receivers.

Rodgers extended the Packers' lead before the end of the first quarter when a 66-yard pass landed in the safe hands of Jordy Nelson.

Ponder's night would become even more disappointing midway through the second period when Julius Peppers intercepted his pass, before evading every challenge on his way to charging into the endzone from over 48 yards.

Davante Adams struck another nail into the Minnesota coffin before the interval by becoming the latest beneficiary of a Rodgers pass as the Packers opened up a 28-0 lead.

The relentless nature of the Green Bay attack continued after the break as Eddie Lacy twice took advantage of inviting gaps to rush for two touchdowns of his own, with Mason Crosby extending his number of extra points to eight.

Rodgers was benched for the final quarter as the Packers handed a well-earned rest to their key man following an impressive display.

Minnesota managed to grab a consolation touchdown through Ponder, who used the space in front of him to sprint over for the score.

Blair Walsh would reduce the deficit with a 26-yard field goal, but the reaction had come far too late for the Vikings.
