Mike McCarthy: 'Jermichael Finley upbeat despite injury'

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy reveals that Jermichael Finley is upbeat despite suffering a potentially serious spinal injury on Sunday.

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy has revealed that tight end Jermichael Finley is "very positive" despite suffering a potentially serious injury during Sunday's match against the Cleveland Browns.

Finley was treated on the pitch by medical personnel for six minutes before being stretchered off and rushed to an intensive care unit, having suffered a bruised spinal cord in his neck during the Packers' 31-13 win.

The 26-year-old has since reassured people that he has left the ICU and is able to walk again, and McCarthy revealed that he is focused on returning to full health.

"This is something that needs to be seen by more than one doctor. Jermichael is very, very upbeat, very positive," ESPN quotes McCarthy as saying.

"Always has a smile on his face, so I mean he's focused on what's most important. That's his health and his family."

Browns safety Tashaun Gipson, who inflicted the injury on Finley, has denied leading with his helmet on the hit.
