Patriots stutter against Lions

The New England Patriots recorded their first defeat of the pre-season, losing 40-9 to the Detroit Lions.

Running back Reggie Bush led the Lions in receiving taking five catches for 103 yards.

Starting quarterback Matthew Stafford played the entire first half for Detroit, completing 12 of 25 attempts and 166 yards and a touchdown.
