Peyton Manning plays down Tom Brady meeting

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning insists that the AFC championship game against the New England Patriots will not just be about him and Tom Brady.

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has played down the fact that he will come up against Tom Brady yet again having steered his team into the AFC championship game.

Manning threw two touchdown passes to help the Broncos to a 24-17 victory over the San Diego Chargers last night, setting up a match against the New England Patriots on January 19 for a place in the Super Bowl.

It will be the latest in a long line of meetings between the two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks, but Manning insists that it will be a good match between two accomplished teams rather than an individual battle between him and Brady.

"It's the Broncos versus the Patriots and certainly Tom and I have played against each other a lot. But when you get to the AFC championship, it's about two good teams that have been through a lot to get there," Manning told The AP.

Manning recently broke Tom Brady's record of 50 touchdown passes in a single season, finishing the regular campaign with 55 and adding two more to that total in last night's game.
