Josh McDaniels opts out of Cleveland Browns running

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has decided to remove his name from the shortlist of candidates to become the new head coach of the Cleveland Browns.

McDaniels interviewed for the position on Tuesday, and although initial talks went well, it appears that the play-caller has opted out due to family reasons.

Following a stint as head coach with the Denver Broncos and a year with the St Louis Rams, McDaniels decided to settle back with the Patriots and is against the idea of disrupting his wife and four young children again.

ESPN reporter Adam Schefter said via his personal Twitter account: "One person who knows Josh McDaniels said he had 'an awesome' meeting with Browns, but it isn't right time for him to become a head coach."

Rob Chudzinski was recently fired by the Browns after just one year in the position.
