Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel will miss the rest of pre-season, according to head coach Mike Pettine.
The 22-year-old has an elbow injury and will be rested until they meet the New York Jets in week one of the regular season.
Pettine is quoted as saying by ESPN: "We're very pleased with where he is currently. If we truly felt like, 'Hey, he needs to get out there and get these reps,' then this is something we could have worked through.
"But we just felt like heading into the season, it's a long year, let's go ahead and shut him down and rest and make sure it's 100% once we head to New York."
Manziel made just five appearances for the Browns last season.
