Andy Dalton helps Cincinnati Bengals beat San Diego Chargers

Cincinnati Bengals move to 2-0 on the season after beating the San Diego Chargers 24-19 thanks to three touchdown passes from Andy Dalton.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton threw for three touchdowns as his side beat the San Diego Chargers 24-19.

Keenan Allen muffed a punt early on for the Chargers that allowed the Bengals to score two plays later, with Dalton finding AJ Green for the first touchdown of the day.

The Chargers would reply with a solid drive that ended in a Josh Lambo field goal before Bengals kicker Mike Nugent pulled his field goal wide.

Lambo would put three more point on the board to close the gap to one point but Dalton would restore his team's lead near the end of the first half, throwing a deep pass to find Marvin Jones all alone in the endzone to put the Bengals up 14-6.

San Diego would begin to rally at the start of the second half with Philip Rivers finding Stevie Johnson to close the gap once again, before Lambo was offered the chance to put them in the lead, but the Chargers' kicker pulled his effort wide.

Cincinnati would go on to punish the miss as Nugent kicked three points before Dalton threw his third touchdown to tight end Tyler Eifert that put the Bengals ahead late on.

Rivers found Malcom Floyd for a 40-yard touchdown with four minutes to go and the quarterback had the chance to win in the final minute, but Rivers threw an interception to Vincent Rey to seal the Bengals victory.

Cincinnati go to 2-0 on the season while San Diego remain in second place in the AFC West with a 1-1 record.
