Jay Gruden: 'Andy Dalton can lead Cincinnati Bengals to Super Bowl'

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden believes that quarterback Andy Dalton can help the team win the Super Bowl.

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden has said that Andy Dalton can lead the team to the Super Bowl.

The AFC North side have reached the playoffs every year since drafting the quarterback, but will progress as division winners for the first time since 2009 this year.

Gruden told the team's website: "He's beaten [Tom] Brady, he's beaten [Aaron] Rodgers, he's beaten [Ben] Roethlisberger, he's done it all. We just have to do it in the playoffs.

"That's to be determined. But even if something happens where there are turnovers or a bad referee call or something happens and we don't win the game, I don't think you can discount what he's done the last three years as a starting quarterback.

"I think what's more important for [Dalton and wide receiver AJ Green] is to get the playoff stigma off them. No matter what they do, until they win a playoff game, they can still be criticised. The only way to stop the criticism for good is to win playoff games. And Super Bowls."

The Bengals face current Super Bowl champions the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
