Jackson signs new one-year deal

Veteran running back Fred Jackson has signed a new one-year contract with the Buffalo Bills.

The 33-year-old has split carries with CJ Spiller over the past three campaigns, but the agreement of an extension shows that he is still very much part of the plans for next season.

Jackson's deal is worth $2.6m (£1.5m) with $1m (£590k) available to him in additional incentives, so long as he rushes for a certain number of yards and scores touchdowns.

Although Spiller is likely to see the majority of the action for the Bills next term, Jackson is expected to be above rookie Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon in the depth chart.

Jackson has played for the Bills since 2006, when he joined the side as an undrafted free agent.
