Fred Jackson hopes to convert possession into touchdowns

Fred Jackson believes that it is vital that the Buffalo Bills start scoring touchdowns rather than settling for field goals.

Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson has insisted that the team have to start scoring touchdowns if they are going to win more matches this season.

The Bills managed just one passing touchdown for their 363 total yards during Sunday's 27-20 defeat to divisional rivals the New York Jets, leaving themselves with a 1-2 record in the NFL from their three games so far.

Their sole touchdown and two-point conversion came in the fourth quarter, following three periods that produced just four successful field-goal attempts.

Jackson told Bills.com: "We have to score touchdowns whenever we get the opportunity. Scoring field goals is not going to cut it and it came back to bite us in the butt.

"As an offensive unit, we can't settle for that. We're definitely going to put a lot of pressure on ourselves because of that. We gave ourselves an opportunity.

"We didn't play well early. Again, we struggled offensively and we came out slow and sluggish. That's on us and we have to get better in that area."

Jackson's fellow back C.J. Spiller left the field in the third quarter with a suspected knee injury.
