Byrd: 'Bills return still an option'

Buffalo Bills safety Jairus Byrd has insisted that the "door is not closed" on a return to the team.

The Bills decided not to use their franchise tag on Byrd yesterday, meaning that he will now become a free agent and can start negotiating with other teams on Saturday.

However, the three-time Pro Bowler revealed that he was still talking to CEO Russ Brandon and general manager Doug Whaley over the possibility of re-signing for the Bills.

"The door is not closed on anything. I'm not closing the door on any opportunities at all. The lines of communication are still open. I've talked to Russ and Doug a couple days ago. We're talking," Byrd told ESPN.

"So it's not anything that's hard feelings or anything like that. The conversations that we've had, we know what's going on. We're all on the same page. We'll go from here."

Byrd also experienced contract wrangling with the Bills last season and did not feature for them until week six due to a foot injury.
