Gonzalez postpones retirement

Tony Gonzalez has confirmed that he will continue his playing career for at least one more season after signing a new contract with the Atlanta Falcons.

The tight end had said that he was 95% certain that 2012 would be his last year in the league, but the NFC South team have convinced him to return for the 2013 campaign.

The 37-year-old, who has played in the NFL since 1997, has agreed a two-year deal worth $14m (£9.3m).

Gonzalez finished the 2012 season with 930 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, before recording the first post-season win of his career in the playoffs against the Seattle Seahawks.
