Team GB's Jack Whelbourne through to 1500m short track speed skating semi-final

Great Britain's Jack Whelbourne has progressed to the semi-finals of the 1500m short track speed skating at the 2014 Winter Olympics by finishing first in his heat.

Whelbourne moved into third place with six laps remaining, before weaving his way to the front of the pack to post a time of 2 minutes and 14.091 seconds.

Italy's Yuri Confortola, who was second, and third-placed Sjinkie Knegt of the Netherlands will join Whelbourne in the semi-final at 11:04am today.
