Katie Summerhayes plays down "slushy" ski slope conditions

Women's slopestyle skiing finalist Katie Summerhayes says that her Team GB teammate James Woods will be comfortable competing in warm conditions during the men's final.

Team GB skier Katie Summerhayes has said that James Woods and the men competing in the slopestyle final later today will be used to performing on a "slushy" slope.

Summerhayes, who finished in seventh place in the women's event, was in the BBC Sport commentary box to cheer on her teammate Woods as he recorded a score of 87.20 to reach the final.

She said: "James will be really pleased with that first run and I said once you're in the start gate you no longer feel the pain of any injury because the adrenalin gets you through.

"The hot weather is not really ideal but we ski on these conditions in the summer and at the end of the season. It does make things a little tougher but they'll all try and push through."

Woods begins his challenge for a medal at 9.30am GMT.
