Katie Summerhayes "gutted" to lose out on medal

Great Britain skier Katie Summerhayes admits that she is "gutted" to finish seventh in today's slopestyle final in Sochi.

Great Britain skier Katie Summerhayes has admitted that she was "gutted" to have finished seventh in the women's ski slopestyle final at the Sochi Games.

The Sheffield-born teenager fell during her first attempt, before securing a score of 70.60 on her second go.

"I'm gutted and there's been tears," the Team GB athlete told reporters after the event. "It happens, that's our sport and people fall but I'm just gutted.

"The first run was really slushy and I'm not really sure what happened, I landed a bit back seat and the next thing I was on the floor. The second run I did I wanted but I put my hands down twice on landing and that's the difference between winning and losing.

"It's my fault, it's just one of those things."

Canadians Dara Howell and Kim Lamarre earned gold and bronze respectively in the final at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park, with United States skier Devin Logan securing silver.
