Andrew Musgrave focused on future after Sochi disappointment

Team GB's Andrew Musgrave reveals that he was battling through illness during today's 50km mass start cross country event.

Great Britain skier Andrew Musgrave battled through illness to finish 53rd in the 50km mass start cross country event.

The 23-year-old, who completed the course in a time of 1 hour, 57 minutes and 08.9 seconds, was hoping for a strong finish to his Games after previous disappointment.

"I didn't feel so great, I am little bit ill, I had a bit of a fever," Musgrave is quoted as saying by TeamGB.com. "I thought I may as well race. It is the Olympics and it comes around once every four years and it might have gone well.

"In the Tour de France guys race with broken collarbones, if I have only got a sore throat and a cold I just thought 'I may as well just go'. If I am healthy next week I will be racing in Finland and then up in Norway the week after that.

"I have got stuff to focus on ahead of this, and I am glad that we do have a World Championships next year - it gives me something to focus on after a disappointment here."

Russia achieved a 1-2-3 finish in the 50km event, ensuring they will top the medal table at the close of the Winter Olympics.
