Team GB skier Andrew Young found conditions hard

Great Britain cross-country skier has admitted that he found the conditions tough in the qualifying round of the men's sprint, in which he managed only the 42nd-fastest time.

A top-30 spot was required to reach the semi-finals in the competition eventually won by Olga Vigen Hattestad, and Young admits that this was a course that did not suit his own ski style.

"The conditions are quite hard," he told Team GB's official website. "I am a big guy and when you are 85 to 86 kilograms you just sink in and I have got to work on that and get better at that.

"I have got better at it but it is still not as good as it could be. Different conditions, different courses favour different people and I found this course and these conditions tricky.

"You have to train in it and adapt your technique and style of skiing to the snow. I have got to work on that and do better on this type of snow next time."

GB are currently 18th in the medal standings at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
