GB bobsleigh leader Gary Anderson: John Baines can "step up"

Gary Anderson backs John Baines to succeed in the two-man bobsleigh team in place of Craig Pickering.

Team GB bobsleigh team leader Gary Anderson has backed John Baines, following the latter being drafted in to replace the injured Craig Pickering in the two-man team.

Baines has competed as GBR2 in the past, and his experience in World Cups has made Anderson confident that he can perform in the Sochi Winter Olympics 2014.

"John has considerable World Cup experience with GBR1 in recent years, achieving a World Cup top 10 finish," he told Team GB's website.

"I know that John can step up here and has been seeking this chance for some time, he now has the chance to show the world what he is capable of."

Baines will take part with Lamin Deen in the two-man event.
