Coe: 'Fantastic atmosphere in Team GB'

Sebastian Coe has described the atmosphere surrounding Team GB at the Winter Olympics as "fantastic".

The 57-year-old, who has two Olympic medals to his name, watched the first week of action in Britain, before flying out to Sochi this week.

"When Great Britain men's curling skip David Murdoch got the winning stone [in the playoff against Norway], horns were going on the M25 and people were flashing their headlights," Lord Coe told the BBC. "A similar moment I remember that happening was when we won the Ryder Cup.

"The atmosphere in Team GB is fantastic and there has been some promising performances. The two medals have been a high point and it bodes well for the future. We need to build on this. We now have a huge opportunity in some sports."

Great Britain have so far won two medals at the Games.
