Elise Christie speaks of being a victim of cyber-bullying

Elise Christie speaks of being threatened and cyber-bullied following her silver medal disqualification in the Sochi Olympic short track 500m event.

Great Britain speed skater Elise Christie has admitted that she has endured cyber-bullying after being stripped of a silver medal in the Sochi Winter Olympics short track 500m event.

Speaking after her second disqualification in a period of days at the Sochi Games, in the 1500m race, the 23-year-old said she needed to 'push through' the setbacks.

"I was playing safe after the 500m final, by trying not to be near anyone," Christie told BBC Sport. "I am gobsmacked - I expected the decision the other day, but not now. I have found it hard, but it is not always about medals. I have to keep pushing through.

"I have had to deal with abuse on the internet as well. So I have found it hard.

"I have had a few people threatening me, cyber bullying basically."

The Livingston-born skater will be back in action next week in the 1000m event.
